We invite you to join our ten day pilgrimage combining two World Heritage sites in Rome and Assisi, with a visit to San Giovanni Rotondo, home of one of the most celebrated Catholic shrines in the world. Your pilgrimage will take in four nights in Rome, two nights in Assisi and four nights in San Giovanni.

Day 1

Depart UK for Rome. Upon arrival transfer to our hotel and dinner here.

Day 2

This morning we will attend the general Papal Audience (if the Holy Father is in residence), followed by a guided tour of the St Peter’s basilica, the largest of all Catholic Churches. Explore this wonderful basilica and the grounds. Visit the Crypt and view the tombs of St Peter and recent Popes including that of Blessed John Paul II.

Day 3

Tour of Old Rome visiting the Colosseum (view from outside), Trevi Fountain, the Roman Forum and St Peters in Chains basilica to view Michelangelo’s famous Statue of Moses. Also visit the basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls, the second largest church in Rome, which houses the tomb of St Paul kept under the main altar; basilica of St Mary Majors which houses the true relics of the manger from Bethlehem in which Jesus was laid following his birth. Optional excursion - Rome tour by night (cost not included) is a wonderful experience. You are able to see the city in a completely different setting.

Day 4

A.M. We will visit the Vatican Museum and see the magnificent Sistine Chapel (Michelangelo’s masterpiece ceiling and Last Judgement), and many other priceless works of art. P.M. Today we leave Rome for Assisi (located half way up the slopes of Mt. Subasio, a historical city pervaded by the spirit of St. Francis. We expect to arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.

Day 5

Depart for the basilica of St Francis, first we will have Mass and then a guided tour of the church. The tomb of St Francis has been successfully renovated and can now be visited. Time will be allocated to explore the basilica. We will have lunch. We then walk to the Basilica of St Clare, visit the museum and relics of St Clare as well as her incorrupt body which is kept underneath the altar.

Day 6

We leave Assisi and coach to San Giovanni Rotondo (4-5 hours drive). We stop for lunch on the way. Check in to our hotel and dinner here.

Days 7-9

We will spend the rest of our pilgrimage at the Sanctuary of Padre Pio (Saint Pio). We visit many of his relics here - Museum of Crypt where his tomb is on view, the Confessional from where he performed so many of his miracles, and the choir loft where he received his Sacred Stigmata in 1918. He suffered from these wounds until his death on September 23, 1968. On day 9 we will make a half day visit to the Sanctuary of St Michael the Archangel and visit St Michael’s Cave where the Angels appeared three times in the years 490, 492 and 1656. The Sanctuary is one of Christendom’s most celebrated Shrines.

Day 10

Leave early for the journey back to Rome and our flight home.
